Sze Some is a corporate and commercial litigator. Her practice focuses on fraud and asset recovery, commercial litigation and construction disputes.

She handles a variety of shareholders’ disputes and cross-border recovery of assets matters. Her experiences also extend to construction disputes, including adjudication and arbitration, along with arbitration-related court proceedings.

Sze Some holds an LL.B (Hons) from the University of London and is an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya.

  • Advising 1Malaysia Development Berhad and its subsidiaries in one of the world’s largest cross-border recovery of assets.
  • Advising a state-owned corporation in a fraud claim amounting to USD53 million against its former Chief Executive Officer and other foreign defendants.
Corporate and Commercial Litigation
  • Acted as junior counsel in resisting Fortuna Injunction and Erinford Injunction.
  • Acted as junior counsel in the Court of Appeal in a claim for wrongful transfer of land.
  • Advised former employees of the oldest Malay language newspaper in Malaysia, in an appeal against the dismissal of leave by the Winding Up Court.
Arbitration and Construction Disputes
  • Advising and acting for an oil and gas company in an arbitration arising out of an agreement for the maintenance and cleaning of oil tankers.
  • Advised and acted for a prominent glove-manufacturing company in setting aside an adjudication decision.
  • Advised and acted for a construction company in setting aside an arbitral award.
Regulatory Enforcement
  • Advised and acted for the Securities Commission (SC) Malaysia in opposing a discovery application filed by Ernst & Young, seeking the discovery of the SC’s internal investigation papers related to the SC’s investigations on a former licensed fund manager, SJ Asset Management Sdn Bhd.
Tax Disputes
  • Advising and acting for a company in the palm oil industry in a Service Tax dispute against the Royal Malaysian Customs Department.
