Emilia Lye Jia Jia

Emilia is a litigator whose practice focuses on commercial and corporate disputes, fraud and asset recovery, competition law, and tortious disputes.
She has worked on commercial disputes and advisory work for clients in the construction and energy sectors and has experience working with law enforcement authorities and governmental agencies. She is also a part of the firm’s competition practice and works on matters for the Malaysian Competition Commission.
Emilia graduated with a First Class Honours from Queen’s University of Belfast in 2023. She completed her pupillage at LCWP and was retained as an associate thereafter.

- Assisted counsel in successfully opposing leave of Federal Court on the issue of a putative defendant’s standing to intervene in a leave application to commence a statutory derivative action.
- Acting as junior counsel in various company law and shareholders’ dispute matters arising from maritime logistic disputes.
- Acting as junior counsel in an appeal arising from a multimillion-ringgit contractual dispute, together with related execution proceedings including garnishee applications, judgment debtor summons, and bankruptcy actions.
- Assisted in advising a multinational energy company on the revenue apportionment of a production sharing contract.
Fraud and Asset Recovery
- Assisting counsel acting for the sovereign wealth fund in the recovery of billions in misappropriated assets through various onshore and offshore civil recovery proceedings.
- Acting as junior counsel for a construction company in a high-value fraud and conspiracy claim involving a government-linked company and its directors arising from a public infrastructure project.
- Acting as junior counsel for an equity joint venture company in pursuing extensive legal claims against entities involved in unauthorised foreign worker importation schemes.
Competition Law
- Acting as junior counsel for the Malaysian Competition Commission (MyCC) in an appeal involving, among others, the General Insurance Association of Malaysia and its members in relation to the Commission’s findings on the alleged infringements of the Competition Act 2010 on trade discounts on automotive parts prices and hourly labour rates for motor vehicle repairs by approved workshops.
Tortious Disputes
- Acting as junior counsel for a multinational company on tortious disputes, including negligence, nuisance, and statutory breaches.
